This is pretty awesome, I seriously hope it works out for you two.

Have you ever questioned your heterosexuality before this?

This is why in the field of history you won't find anyone trusting literature that is not heavily cited or written by a legitimate historian (besides memoirs). It's too easy to write "he said she said" and have people believe it without any accountability outside of the field.

That's not necessarily true. Many people were supporters of the Reich, but not of the horrifying things that came with it. It was a much more complex time than painting everything black or white.

Don't forget that many Germans that were "in the clear" would be punished if they didn't heil Hitler properly, show national pride, or take part in certain things deemed mandatory for all, etc... There was a huge culture of fear, and as a result it is very hard for historians to say with 100% confidence what the attitude was for many people. This leads to ambiguity even where working directly for the Reich was concerned. You said it yourself, that they were not ones to tolerate dissent. Even if someone disagreed internally, if they actually disagreed outwardly they could be killed, sent to a concentration camp amongst other not so great fates.

I'm not necessarily arguing with you, I just wanted to add some of the nuance that comes with studying that time period that I felt your comment lacked.

On the flip side, I hated my copper IUD. I had it for four years, and my overall well being just disintegrated slowly those 4 years. Best thing I've ever done was get that damn thing out.
