It was an incredibly effective monetization mechanic. Slot bonuses have been known to feature the same style of mechanic. It’s like psychological crack because you perceive yourself to be so close, you own all this shit you value, you’ve spent so much already you just have to push through to make it worth it, you’ve spun so many times surely the next spin must be the one, etc. It leans on sunk cost fallacy, endowment effect, gambler’s fallacy, and skinner boxes just to name a few that I can readily identify.

The motherfucker who came up with that was plugged deep down into the human lizard brain and knew exactly how it ticked.

Are you also a young atheist? Does being atheist make you a scientist? Does being a scientist make you an atheist? If you are an atheist does that still make you a theist?

Actual question: Where did you go to school and how did you like La Canada? Also did you spend any time at Caltech? I live in the area and a decent amount of my friends' parents work at JPL and Caltech and I hear the atmosphere, if you are a science person which if you are working there you definitely are, is unbeatable. Plus you get to live in SoCal so it's a win win right?
