You're saying that because you've heard someone tell you that someone said to them, that they "have no interest in becoming housed" that that means for a fact quote: "There are people who genuinely prefer living on the street, recycling for money, and living a non materialistic life.", and that this so called "fact" is relevant to the discussion.

In reality i suspect you want to paint a large portion of homeless people as being so "by choice", for whatever motive you happen to have. Probably to assuage your own guilt at being indifferent or unkind to them in the past.
