The victim was murdered and his phone was stolen at he same time... Perhaps we should check the phone records? Nah, let's convince this drug addict that was on the other end of a dark alley at night to testify instead. Case closed.

I have seen it. It is very hard to make out the mans voice from the short amount of time he speaks, but it didn't really sound like him to me.
