Remember, we can't, don't and never identify individuals.

Just like some NSA employees don't abuse their power to stalk people online I'm sure. Multiple studies have shown that the data you collect can in fact be used to identify individuals if you wanted to. Just because you personally don't does not mean no one is doing it.

if we know that we've served you an ad and we also know your loyalty card details for Walmart, and a week later - you made a purchase for the product in Walmart, we will be able to do some amazing conversion analysis on that.

Isn't this an invasion of privacy? Am I not able to expect to be able to buy what I want, when I want without fear of someone using that data to further build their virtual profile of me without my consent? This should at the very least be an opt in service, although I believe it should be illegal.

In other words, his proposed tax would generate just over 1/4 of the required money to implement his UBI plan.

Look, I'm all for a UBI system, but his plan is beyond stupid if this is how be wants to implement it. Truth is, most people don't need UBI. A not insignificant portion of adults in this country are just fine currently, and giving them the same $1,000 would just be making it harder to raise enough money to give it to those who actually need it.

I agree completely with you, but that isn't always practical for everyone. Quick example, the last local hardware store that was anywhere close to me shut down years ago, now I have to use Lowes or Home Depot if I need something just to save the gas. They are great stores, but they also do stuff like this and I hate it.
