As soon as Ryland discovered how to kill an Astrophage, why didn't the humans build their own mechanical predators to "poke Astrophage with a stick" around Venus? Seems a lot easier than nuking Antarctica or going on an interstellar research mission.

Seconding this question! I LOVE that I can listen to music on my S5 in the shower or take it skiing without worry. Nexus should be running with this.

Did you sue Obama, Bush and Clinton, too, when they commit similar offenses against the environment?

I wasn't so much thinking of an "intelligent nanobot", as much as big spikey balls in the Petrovaline. To be fair, I'm thinking this as a passive reader, not as someone with a bioengineering background.

I think my question was really deeper, in that it would seem easier to change Venus (or block the line-of-sight) than the effort and low-odds that went into the Hail Mary.

Simply staying in your own solar system just seems a lot less risky. Obviously then we wouldn't have had this great story, but that's why, given the chance, I thought to ask what other "stop the infection" methods were considered.
