But just think of all the little kids that loved you for doing it.

I got t-boned by a taxi at 40MPH while on my bike last year. I survived with a broken ankle. Damn.

P.S. the bike didn't survive.

I really wish more people had the moral center that you do. If you're ever in Rochester, NY, send me a message. I'll buy you a beer and show you the city. It's the least I can do.

Liar! It was really the sweat. Stop trying to get karma by playing the big man tears card.

I need to tack on to this. I had essentially the same question /u/frogman2015 had, but I'm coming from the view of /u/TheSecretMe.

Our government is responsible for some outright heinous things done both in this country and overseas. Standing U.S. Senators are pushing creationism in public schools and over 40% of American adults believe that Jesus Christ will literally return to earth in the next 40 years, just to name a few examples I take issue with (and I hope I'm not alone).

Now, don't get me wrong. I know that compared to some Eastern countries, our political and justice system is much more fair and evolved. The U.S. is a comparatively very young country compared to the rest of the world and we've somehow made great accomplishments over the last ~300 years, but I feel like that's changed in the last ~100 years. Frankly, we're backpedaling.

TheSecretMe's point about the OP being so willing to put foot to ass for the country, but being blind to the reality of what he/other solders are really doing is probably the biggest reason that I never joined. I can't support what our government has them do and I'm an intelligent enough being where I can't blindly follow orders that I know are morally wrong.

These days, between the political temperature of this country and the seemingly complete disregard for education or striving to better the world, my ultimate goal is to leave this country and work the hardest and sacrifice my life for another country that is a bit more enlightened.
