Why does the ACLU continue to disagree with the current interpretation of the 2nd Amendment laid out by DC v Heller? Isn't the "collective right" reasoning incredibly backwards?

But do you think heavily restrictions on legal possession of firearms have a positive effect? From what I understand of the permit process in NYC, it's draconian and intentionally set up to discourage signing up (massive amounts of paperwork, $400 non refundable processing fee, very little chance of approval) . I live in Florida and it cost me $220 and a 90 day minimum for a carry permit for 7 years and I didn't need permission just to own a firearm.

They're waiting for RBG and the other justices to take back what was said in Heller.
