No kidding! We used to make jokes about crispy critters, etc. I worked a plane crash once and recovered bodies. It didn't bother me at all. Fast forward to 9/11 and I am in a totally different line of work and I had PTSD and flashbacks of the plane crash I worked and then imagining what rescuers saw on scene. No one at work could understand why I was so affected. Even though you see ok at the time that shit can mess you up unexpectedly years down the road.

LOL no. We're not animal control. We did chase them out of her yard though. That was fun. /s

Not OP but a former EMT and drunk men would sometimes, a lot of times, start masturbating. I once had a guy pull a gun on us as we pulled up to his house. It's a crazy job! It was great in my 20s. Once I decided to have a family I settled down to a less crazy job.

You get used to it. I use to cringe at the sight of blood. But eventually it becomes like a video game. The people aren't real to you. It's easier when you don't know them. I helped an ER doc crack a chest once and got to see the heart and all the inside stuff. Didn't bat an eye. My kids have a tooth that is coming out and I nearly faint.
