You are conflating the disordered sleep phenomen 'sleep paralysis' with the normal loss of muscle tone that occurs during REM sleep ('REM atonia'). I susect the question related to the former, not the latter.

You are answering a lot of direct questions with certainty, when you provide no proof of that certainty. You are stating your personal opinions as scientific and medical fact, which is at best disingenuous.

I suggest you temper your evangelism with some awareness of your own ignorance on the topic, particularly as there is scientific evidence for negative impacts of the practice (regardless of initiation method) and aknowledgement of many unknowns (see this recent review: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fnins.2019.01423/full).

Hello Paul, I hope I'm not too late...

Have you done much work with people who have aquired hearing loss? I'm asking because of my Dad; he has been hard-of-hearing all his life but it has been deteriorating at a constant rate. Listening to music has always been one of his greatest passions, but recently he stopped listening to music because he says he can't really enjoy it anymore. I'm really saddened by this and wondered if people like him can find other ways to enjoy the music they love so much?

PS. nice to see a fellow person from Huddersfield!
