If workers don't get paid tomorrow, how long until we descend into utter chaos because people aren't getting their money to eat or pay bills? Basically, how long can the government withhold paychecks before people start to revolt? (and bring out the guillotine? kidding. Sort of.)

I've heard a lot from family members in the healthcare system that they just don't have enough "beds" for people at their hospitals that aren't critical. Do you find this to be an issue no matter where you go? Do you think this is a lack of doctors, knowledge, or money/physical space?

Do they just think all Americans are awful because of what's been going on lately? Or is that something they don't pay much attention to or realize that the US is being run by a psychopath and not every American is like that?

My husband and I are fairly flexible on when to travel during the year- are there any parts of the year that are least expensive to travel? (We'd be looking to fly out of almost any airport on the US east coast)

Are there any times of the year that you recommend that are better for couples versus better for families?

That's probably the Port Security. Most ports have them but you don't always see them escorting ships. Charleston SC is an odd port because not as many ships go there as most other ports, and I'm not 100% sure why you had the escort but it could be a couple reasons: security level against the port itself has increased (possible for all ports), that the Coast Guard or Border Patrol has an increased presence in the area (CHS was/does a ton of training during the off-tourism months, so instead of randomly selecting cruise ships they did all the cruise ships), or that the harbor is being dredged (again) and the increased work has made it harder to navigate. Or, Charleston is just such a hot mess with locals being irate over the dredging that they think there is an increased a terror threat (Just kidding... Sort of...).
