Though, honestly, a lot of those people are abandoning news papers because they're getting the same shallow, quick hit news online. Just because they're not dropping their quarters for newsprint, doesn't mean they're better informed, unfortunately.

I actually disagree with this, but not disrespectfully so. Compared to losing weight without the lap band (or bypass), this IS the easy way out. That doesn't mean it was EASY, but a heck of a lot easier than without it (if this weren't the case, people wouldn't do it, let's be honest).

That being said, SO WHAT? I mean, we all do things "the easy way" if/when we can. Personally, I often drive to the store/work instead of walk or ride my bike. Why? Because it's easier. I buy my veggies at the store or farmers market instead of growing my own. Why? It's easier.

There's nothing wrong with taking the easy way, especially if it works. If a quicker weight loss with built in restrictions is what works for you, all the more power to you! Congrats on your success.

(PS I don't have any personal experience with it, but have someone very close to me who had the RNY (it think that's what it's called?) bypass)

As "real" journalism shrinks and newspapers have less money and staff available to dedicate to investigative journalism, will it just die out? As we move forward, who will do this work and how will they fund it?

What actions, if any did you take to get her to stop doing drugs before/after learning she was pregnant? And if you didn't take steps to get her to stop, do you feel somewhat responsible for your son being born with defects?

Did you do drugs as well?
