When countries get too high of a debt to GDP ratio, their currency collapses with runaway inflation. In the US, the debt to GDP just went up from 80% to 110%. However, there seems to be no consequence to inflation or otherwise. How is that possible? Shouldn’t there be a free market reaction to debt increases? Inflation or something?
