True. How then can we understand people who don’t respond to such vulnerable childhood experiences by resorting to perfectionism/OCD etc but instead become defiant, and provoking such criticism further, even to an excessive extent?

Do you think this will ever happen? If enough influential people express the same enlightened sentiments, perhaps it will. But it all comes down to the mighty dollar, it seems to me, as I sit here in Australia from where it seems the American penal system is run as commercial enterprise.
