This may sound silly, stupid over overly sentimental, but I am literally tearing up right now at this news. I'm a 30 year old technology innovator operating at the fringes of society who has watched many very brilliant and talented American inventors accidentally step on the minefield laid by American litigators eager to make examples of those who would dare 'disrupting' existing ideas by dreaming up new ones.

I can not tell you how absolutely and utterly relieving to know that there are actually people in congress who support young innovators. Aaron's law would go a long way in helping re-enfranchise those who dare to think different. It would nice to actually experience some of this legendary 'freedom' paid so much lip service in political theater.

Thank you, Thank you truly, sir. I will do what I can to help.

By 'troubled teens' do you mean you brainwash kids into blaming all of their problems on their 'wrong' substance habits, while simultaneously proscribing alternate drug dependencies on them instead?

First of all we are not in the business of brainwashing the students that we work with.

Ahh, salesmen...

We work with our students to help them understand not only the cause and effect of what they did and the consequences of those actions, but to help them understand what they were feeling, and thinking at the time so that they might find the skills to not repeat those things that caused them to be where they are.

Lol... so you don't brainwash your students, you just inform them of the only socially acceptable interpretation of their behavior should they wish to continue interacting with the family who sold them out to you- also known as the disfellowship approach to substance abuse- Accept our interpretation or live on the street like the rest of the "drug addict" untermensche.

I find your evasiveness on asserting whether or not you proscribe addictions to other pharmaceuticals as 'treatment' to be most telling.

I'm sorry to be combative, but I frankly find your whole industry to be a damn near genocidal fad of a nationalized autoimmune disorder which is tearing my country apart. Adherence to politically convenient scapegoats is nothing to be proud of, and participating in and/or enriching yourself via the nationally socialized scapegoating of particular entheogenic folk habits is simply immoral.

We do not prescribe other medication or pharmaceuticals as treatment.

I respect this. Thank you.

I will be the first to tell you that my current cannabis self medication is an adaptive behavioral response to having spent most of my childhood amped up on methylphenidate. In adolescence I turned to alcohol to mitigate the antisocial tendencies brought about by the amplification of ego that amphetamines cause, and the classic 'burning the candle at both ends' brought about a discontinuity in my life that would have ended me were it not for the empathy, wisdom, and true kindness of the CA medical cannibis/ entheogenic dance community.

Now I find I can use cannabis is regulated amounts to maintain an even, positive affect sans amphetamines and alcohol. I've fallen in love with the beautiful dance rites, rituals and artwork of the subculture. I love my life and my purpose, and the only thing I have to deal with is the minor fact that there's an entire industry devoted to thriving off 'treating' the tribe who saved my life as anything but rational humans and... well, it sucks.

That's my story and the source of my anger. Please understand that I don't particularly care to see kids using our entheogenic substances, especially out of ritual context. I just want the beautiful people I know and love who saved my life to be able to pass from ritual space to ritual space without worrying about petty culture war "law enforcement" plunder.

standard cognitive-behavioral approach.

The success of cognitive behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is contingent upon the fundamental assumptions of the model the therapist is using. If the model is in err, it is not therapy, it is brainwashing.

I have extreme objections to the modern 'drug treatment' fad which seeks to define 'treatment' (regardless of circumstance) under the hypothetical assumption that youth behavior disorders are caused by the use of those substances for which there are huge political incentives to blame.

It's a conflict of interest and has nothing to do with therapy, sorry.
