Cool that you're still around checking comments. A few other things I would like to say. Some folks are complaining that these are public lands and the gov't shouldn't have the right to shut them down, sorry, but I've seen what unregulated public do to these special places, if staff isn't available to control the mobs then they should be closed, tragedy of the commons and all that. Finally, my one and only visit to Yosemite was last November, it was a couple day trip after a conference in Sacramento, so I had no schedule flexibility. The timing was such that it was a very rainy weekend, cold, almost snowfall, so the park pretty much appeared to be abandoned because there was no one there (almost). I've since seen pictures and read up on how crowded it gets there during peak season, and I feel very fortunate to have been there when it was peaceful. I think this brief couple of days is a magical opportunity for the few people that will be left in, or otherwise have access to, the park.
