Thays why some slaughterhouses use a judas goat. It's one goat they use to lead the animals to the "killing station" but they never kill the goat they bring it back to reintegrate with all the other animals on the farm, apparently being lead to slaughter by one of your buds who goes all the time and makes it back tends to make the transition easier...

I've gotta believe you are familiar with the folks over at polyface farms with Joel Salatin, his regenerative farming systems for chicken, pork and beef are absolutely amazing and they not only produce fantastic protein, the soil produced by their rotational grazing methods and composting techniques actually sequesters more carbon in the soil. I'm not saying it's the answer to the climate crisis but it's a definite step in the right direction

Not to railroad but from my understanding male hogs in general wild or farm raised typically require castration before reaching sexual maturity because testosterone has a rather unappealing effect on the meat
