I may be going out on a limb here but I don't think he likes them dismissing his possibly fatal depressurization work (if done wrong - his words) that he has to do "extremely slowly" with nothing more of one line of dialogue for convenience of the story.

I bet if they threw fifty cents worth of special effects on the idea it would have helped this a lot.
