That still doesn't make sense. The soldiers have smiles on their faces in every picture. The Milgram experiment subjects were very reluctant to inflict pain on others, they just did it because they were told to (the whole purpose of the experiment). I seriously doubt the officers told them to take pictures and "look like you're having fun".

Yes, I am familiar with the experiment, but you have to look at the comment I was replying to. The Nuremberg defense doesn't apply here.
Also, if you note that in the Stanford experiment, Zimbardo took a very hands-off approach (for obvious reasons: he was conducting the experiment).
