Do the Azores Volcanoes act in similar fashion to the Hawaii ones? And why have they been mostly inactive despite being island volcanoes?

Thank you for your reply Mike. I just realised I've asked your colleague Larry about why they are less active but you've stated that there isn't any solid theories as to why recently. The speculation however does make sense in some regards.

Is the Cascade Range inactive relative to other volcanic archs? If so why?

Thank you for your reply! Thank you for putting the relativity to other volcanic arch into perspective. Are there any ideas onto why they are less active than say, the ones in southern Andes?
