I love your series and I don't even like sci-fi all that much.

The reason is that the arc of your characters is awesome. Science fiction and fantasy both seem to struggle in this arena. Can you address the importance of character arc, and why it remains just as important in science fiction? And, of course, the unique issues facing character development in the genre as well.
