Is operant conditioning used in training, i.e. race with other horses and reward the horse when it wins?

What happens to mediocre horses after they're through racing?

So my thinking about Komen is that advertising works, that's why companies do it. But the object of advertising is to make money. Komen is a nonprofit, so owners don't get more money if the business makes more. If they had a 'profit' mentality - i.e. maximize dollars spent on research, they'd do a lot better.
