I'm willing to believe that Lon Horiuchi accidentally killed Vicki Weaver. What bothers me the most is that he got off. It should have been negligent manslaughter at the very least. It also bothers me very much that Horiuchi, being a well-trained sniper, was certainly aware of the potential consequences of firing at a target he could not fully observe, and did so any way.
If I someone was outside firing into my home, so I returned fire, killing him and accidentally killing my neighbor across the street, I'd go to prison. It doesn't matter how justified I was in shooting my assailant, I still killed a non-combatant. I'd get charged with negligent manslaughter or something similar and I would very likely be convicted, even in Texas.
If Horiuchi had served time and the people in charge had been reprimanded or fired, I feel like it may have quelled much of the completely justifiable outrage that followed Ruby Ridge. Instead they doubled down on and stood behind people who didn't deserve to be protected.

Jesus Christ.
Bravo for catching that fucker.
Dude just didn't know when to quit either! Killed people on two continents and tried to the same on a third before the law closed in on him. What a god damn monster.
