I think that guy actually came up with his own method. That was his defense in court, that it was an original method.

In the verdict, it was pointed out that the art of a performance piece is what the audience sees, and that how it is accomplished is irrelevant. The method of an illusion is no more important than the performer's underwear. I like that judge.

Oh you can hear them? Wow. That does sound tough!

I thought they were too far away.

I don't know where I was going with that comment, but I guess a lot of magicians' behavior during that segment just started to make sense. So many of them look really distracted.

Haha, I have a stage show where the premise was that I had drawn the audience into my dreams and was showing them magic that couldn't be done in waking life. I wrote it for the black stage and red/blue gelled lights that the theater had when I started.

But the theater built a new stage for their big season show: a white parlor set with bright flat white lighting. I tried to perform an altered show with the same premise, but it just won't work in that atmosphere. Major rewrites in progress this week.

I feel like magic's inherent camp is its advantage in comedy.

It's also what makes it difficult to present seriously. Not impossible, but it really requires a lot of imagination to come up with strong serious presentations.

Interesting comment, but I'm not sure how it's a relevant reply to mine?
