How do I know this isn't a con?

Just found out that an employee of mine (6 months) uses meth. He was coming off yesterday and acting strange. He said he wont do it again and with the employment situation the way it is I want to believe him and not fire him. I don't have any experience with employees using hard drugs. What advice could you give me?
