Honestly, opinions like this are why the U.S has such a high recidivism rate. Instead of leaving the prisoners worse off than when they left prison, why not teach them marketable skills so that when they do leave prisons they are in a better position then when they went in, and have a better chance at staying out. Honestly, criminals aren't some bogeyman who are monsters, they're just normal people who made bad decisions, or were put in a bad situation, and I fail to see why we should ruin they're lives, which is what you do in the current system.
