I noticed in that link it states:

"The oldest rock engravings in the world are some abstract engravings on loose stone that were found in the southern Cape and dated to 7,700 years of age."

However, elsewhere in the comments you said:

"The most ancient rock carvings I have recorded are of several aurochs, prehistoric oxen on the cliffs beside the Nile valley, South of Luxor in Egypt. These carvings have been dated to at least 18,000 years old."

Is there perhaps a specific definition of "engravings" that those earlier examples do not qualify as?
