Thanks for the reply. As an active duty military member, the preponderance of people I work with are very vocal conservatives, and many often speak about how much they hate liberals. Because of the hostility, I keep my views to myself. I think it's inspiring you were able to talk about your views openly, and that kind of courage is something we need in Congress.

What was it like being a democratic marine?

Being in the military is about working with people to get the mission done. I could know someone for 20 years, never talk about politics, and have a great relationship. But the moment you start talking about politics, personal feelings get involved, and it can change how you are viewed. That change in viewpoint can have negative effects to both your personal career, and to the mission. It's hard to walk that line.
