The Shoryuken (rising dragon punch) is a very double-edged move. It beats almost every other move, so if your opponent is trying to hit you and you do a Shoryuken, their move won't do anything and you'll knock them down.

On the flip side, if your Shoryuken is blocked, your character will take his sweet time landing back on the ground, and he is completely helpless while he's doing that, which means if you do a Shoryuken and your opponent blocks instead of doing an attack, he'll get the chance to do a very damaging combination attack back on you, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Diago's Umeshoryu, or "psychic shoryuken" is when he does a Shoryuken out of nowhere, believing that his opponent will choose that moment to attack as well. The risk is that if his opponent blocks instead, he gets punished. But if Daigo had the correct read and his opponent does pick that moment to attack, Daigo will knock him down and get a big advantage.

Daigo is famous for his psychic shoryukens, and he's famous for reading his opponents, guessing right a lot more often than not.

When we are young, we are completely dependent on our caregivers. In order for us to feel ok when we are little, we have to believe that anything our parents (or primary caregivers) do is on purpose, makes sense, and for the best. What that means when we have caregivers who are negligent or abusive is that we start to believe that, since they are always doing the right thing, we have somehow brought the abuse on ourselves. In other words, rather than believe that the caregivers are flawed, a young mind will believe that if s/he is just "good enough" then they will be treated better.
