What current laws need to be changed in order to get more sensible sex-ed into our schools?

What can the average person do to help?

Schools are for educations, and we're talking about sexual education. By your standards, biology and anatomy shouldn't be taught in schools either because they can deal with bodily functions.

Schools may not potty train, but if you start shitting on the floor they'll probably educate you on why that's a bad idea.

I think it has more to do with the APA being a red herring to what is actually being discussed.

Woah buddy, can't say things like that on Reddit. All jokes aside, reading it back that came off wrong. I should have explained better.

The dichotomy I speak of is people wanting what are generally left leaning policies and solutions, but are under the impression that the side actually putting forth those solutions are republican.

I fully agree with you that there is too much circle jerk around "republican bad," but in my experience I often run into people who are just categorically misinformed on which side will help them enact policies they agree with.

Unless you are relocating to an extremely rural area, it is not nearly as dramatic as the other person commented. The state is still red, so there are still laws that need to be brought up to the times. The odd thing I've found about Texas is this weird dichotomy in people's character and how they vote. I know many people who would give you the shirt off their back, are inclusive of LGBT rights, and are a joy to be around, but still believe that voting red helps progress our society forward. Overall, the people are fantastic, but there are still improvements to be made, especially in the rural areas.
