The 'holy crap' noise doesn't mean you're gonna die!

GM tubes are VERY VERY sensitive. The clicking noise is often a function of the sensitivity you set the detector for.

The times you want to say OH SHIT and RUN is when you hear the clicking all of a sudden stop completely.

But they don't refund you for that, correct? How do they not count that as miles for you? They are making 2x the money off of you if you don't show up

The knowledge on how to reprocess fuel is widespread, available in many MANY academic journals. Separating out the reusable U and Pu is in fact one of the easiest things to do with the used fuel. There is no 'knowledge' barrier at all. That is by no means the barrier to implementing a reprocessing scheme. In the U.S., it's politics. Other countries already do this, (France is the global leader in this regard).

How does it take skill to add to 21 real fast?

...Why do you actually go on the flight? Don't you still get the miles regardless of whether you use the ticket or not? You could have saved time and money by just paying for the flights and never going.
