When writing pace notes, how do you know when a turn is a certain turn? How do you know say an upcoming turn is a 4 right during reccy?

I'm not sure how to properly phrase this question so allow me to try give a scenario. During reccy if I'm approaching a turn that looks fairly open but is deceptive, how do you communicate with your co-driver that a turn is deceptive and is a much higher angle of attack or vice versa? From what I know about reccy, you dont travel at high speeds so couldn't that be a factor in misjudging turns? and how do you know if a jump is a jump? I cant imagine during reccy you'll be jumping the car.

I only play Dirt rally 2.0, but im always fascinated with how pace notes are written. there's a few corners in the game where I think to myself, 'how did they know that this open looking corner was actually a 2 left turn?' 'or how did they know to start slowing down here?'
