I'm a female who recently couch surfed around Europe. Make sure your prospective host has been vouched for with preferably 10+ positive reviews. Look at the reviews. Do the reviewers look like real people? Are all of the past guests girls? If yes, there's a chance the host is looking to hook up. But not necessarily. Most hosts are guys, so don't exclude them from your search. Make sure you read the host's profile. Good hosts will tell you what they can provide and what they expect of their guests. Personally, I look for hosts who say they want to show their guests around their city because I want an interactive local experience. And I had all good CS experiences. Do be careful, though. I was approached by men in France and Italy who were so 'forward' that I was very glad I was in public, with people who would notice if I a was physically accosted. Listen to your instincts. Even in hostels, you need to be safety-first minded.

What did you find yourself eating? I just got done with a European CS'ing trip, and I found I ate carrots, bananas, apples, bread, and the cheapest gyros I could find. I wonder if I missed out on good cheap food ideas.
