The Ninja has become so personal to us, when we started in 2005 we were no where in our careers. That quickly changed and we gained notoriety, but still not any clear way to pay our bills.
We grew very successful, very quickly, but we also got a little burnt out between the production schedule and writing the book.
After the book came out we were toasted. And we also had no clear path forward to pay the bills -- our advertising contract was gone due to financial crisis, and there was no Partner Program at Youtube.
So rather than selling out we went quiet.
We relaunched as a bigger effort in 2010, but that didn't work for a variety of reasons.
So here we are today. We are revisiting the original 43 Questions because I hate the way those look and feel. Well hate is a strong word, but I wanted to go back. Just me,Doug, and the Ninja into a room and make each other laugh.
I didn't want to fuck with the formula like I did in 2010, and I didn't want to make these remasters replace the old episodes. I wanted to cover those topics again to see if we can get a different take.
But also creatively, I wanted to dive back into this world that I helped create without feeling the pressure to be new -- I wanted to just hang out there and see what started to happen.
We are also working on a new show that is an offshoot of the Ninja but a new character and perspective.
The voice is rough. :) Or so I hear.
Right now it takes 4-5 hours to write, 20-30 minutes to shoot, and another 4-8 hours to edit.

Jamie and Adam were awesome! I saved a VM from Adam for years.
We came up with the idea when I was very active in the Rooster Teeth community and we wanted to get this Ninja idea out. It was a full animated script but we couldn't draw, so we opened a gmail account and here we are.
You can never fully prepare for that type of success, but we also tried to be ready for it, only using licensed music, having a partnership in place. etc.
