They don't really take this long. Total time in trials can be up to 10 years, but anything longer than that is just a waste of money for the company developing the drug.

Also, many drugs are put in to the FDA "fast track", which a new drug can be put on for many reasons, but it's typically done if there are none or few options for the disease the drug is trying to treat (the HIV vaccine being the only option for preventing HIV so it will most likely be fast tracked).

The fast track program basically allows the companies to more quickly communicate with the FDA through more meetings compared to non-fast track drugs, being able to submit portions of their New Drug Application instead of having to complete the entire thing and then submit it and then have to go back and change things when it's rejected and submit the entire thing again. Just little time consuming things that are definitely there for the safety of patients, but tend to lengthen the drug approval process (although the process is much much much faster than it was 20 and 30 years ago due to some changes in the FDA funding for the approval process and the process itself).

Under 30. I got an e-mail a while ago that said they were doing further testing on my DNA because I was a person under 30. Apparently either new techniques were developed or they obtained some money to spend on better DNA matching techniques.

Long term effects are typically done in Phase IV trials, which are after the drug has been approved. Drug companies are required to do these trials, and one of the prime examples of a drug being removed from the market due to data found in Phase IV trials is Vioxx (rofecoxib), where Phase IV studies showed adverse cardiovascular events that were not seen in Phase III trails, simply due to the fact that all adverse effects of a drug cannot be found in the small patient size in Phase III trials compared to the millions upon millions of people "participating" in Phase IV trials.

While I agree with this in my political views, it's such bullshit information.

Have you ignored people your own age? Do you not talk to them? A ton of people I know my own age vote how their parents do and there is little to any other factor in their voting decision. Not all young people are obsessed with the internet as you and I. This just adds to my list of how delusional some of the young people on this subreddit are.

The world is not your own little bubble, a vast amount of people do not believe the same things you do.

It's not really that weird. The vaginal canal and urethral canal have just fused together at a point and are being separated, like they are in a normal woman.
