He also claimed to have had ADHD when he was younger.

I get that people want to lucid dream, but 30 day boot camp and "add-ons"? Come on. He couldn't possibly make his scam more obvious.

This is not an AMA, this is an advertisement. He's not really even answering questions. He'll just link to one of his articles and lace the message with HYPE WORDS and go on about how great Lucid dreaming is.

I'm from Finland and in here it is common to see people have their psychiatric care denied entirely until they go to rehab, because using drugs is seen as "not being motivated to receive care/ not doing their part." This means until you are completely sober, you often won't receive other care than drug rehab. In other medicine, you'll have specialists of all sorts in your treatment as needed to get the patient the best care possible, but in drugs and mental health this same standard is intentionally not met.

Is there a similar problem in Norway, and if so, have you done/ have you thought about doing anything to combat the issue?

I also want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking slow but steady steps in humanizing users again.

This is a rather old AMA so I'll chip in a bit:

I'll use low-mid dosages as an example. On really high dosages all bets are off, and you definitely shouldn't start with that, naturally. Every person and experience is also different, and the only way to know how you'll react is by trying.

Everything you listed is indeed possible, but a psychotic break or intentional self harm is a really extreme example. Unintentional self harm is possible, of course, but LSD doesn't really make you too accident prone by itself. Just don't operate heavy machinery or go into traffic etc. Flashbacks can happen occasionally, but usually that's during the day or two after the trip, and they tend to be pretty mild. Mostly like memories, really.

The biggest risk I've noticed is that you'll dig up something inside yourself or change your world view in a way that takes processing, but that's also a big part of the therapeutic effect, so it's definitely not always a bad thing. It can, however, be very taxing and can take some time to normalize and come to terms with, depending on the experience. You handle stuff like this in regular life, too, so it's not uncharted terrain in that sense.

What's most important when taking LSD is set & setting. You should choose a safe, familiar place like your home and have someone there (preferably) sober that you trust, preferably with at least has at least some experience in psychedelics. You should also try to eliminate negative stimuli in advance as best you can, while maximizing positive stimuli.

The most important thing going into it is of course you. Go in with an open mind and be prepared to let go. One of the biggest reasons I've seen for bad trips is when you start desperately hanging on to reality, which usually makes the trip really uncomfortable, even bad.

Hope this helped a bit. If I forgot something or explained something badly, feel free to ask me.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply and links. The first one actually answered my question pretty thoroughly. We're heading there too, thankfully, but, seems Norway is a bit further in the change.

I also realize now that in my original post I made it seem like it's a rule or something, when it's really just ignorance on the doctors' part. Sadly it's not at all uncommon to run into this line of thinking. It's (rightfully) thought that in a lot of cases drug use usually makes psychological problems worse, and combined with a doctor who's ignorant to psychedelics and their actual effects, this is sadly often the result. I have no doubt this is hugely affected by the "nicotine policy vs drug policy" -point you made earlier in the thread.

So now that i think of it, you're definitely doing something to combat my original question's problem, whether you intended to or not. ;)

No further questions, but just wanted to elaborate a bit. Most of my family lives in Norway and your example will hopefully set a good example for Finland, too, so I can't thank you enough.
