How do we counteract or better navigate algorithmic influence? As a small business owner and artist, I find that I often have no choice but to play into the algorithms built into social media platforms.
For example: Instagram has made so many changes to its algorithm within the past few years and it's extremely stressful to keep up with. It also leads a lot of smaller creators to feel as though their work isn't good enough due to drastic decreases in
likes/engagement/etc. Many small business owners and creators feel pressured to create a specific type of content (like Reels and video) that may not feel true to them or their work in an effort to keep up.
