Based on a recent ask reddit it sounds like there are issues and entertainers are unlikely to talk about them because to do so would hurt their chances of being hired in the future.

Likely different entertainers experience different outcomes. I've heard of people talking about how abuse of power can be taken very seriously by some studios and in others it's just common paractice.

I work in a resturant and our staff largely gets control of what music plays and anytime I'm asked what music I want I usually tell them I'm open to almost anything as long as it isn't too repetitive.

When I worked retail I was always glad when the Christmas music started because it meant I didn't have to listen to all the same songs they play the rest of the year.
