Sure, I guess someone (government or otherwise) will be interested if someone starts spending a large amounts of money.
That said, how much trouble are you in or how much explaining do you have to do if your old friends come when you're finally out of prison after several years and you want to tell them you aren't doing that stuff no more?

It actually goes forward and backward. In order to strike midnight, there must already be a man-made global catastrophe. Meanwhile, if, say,all countries agree to ban WMDs and actually do it and made plans to limit and survive global warming, it could go back to,say, 10pm.

How easy is it to actually leave the life once you've been to prison? As in, don't"the boys" expect you to get back in business with them?
Also, if saving money is "frowned upon", don't any people try to stash wealth in some form, like in by buying a second house or something else that can be sold later?
