Okay so if the earthquake hits when I'm at work, my plan is to hide in our reinforced walk-in fridge. Would that actually be helpful or just chill or corpses?

Recent forensic chemistry grad here. It's nothing like CSI. They vaguely reference actual techniques, but soup them up to be very accurate and quick. Just sending in a blood sample for ABO+ typing will take at least 2 weeks with lab work backup. Although it would be cool to wear leather pants to work someday...

Any lab evidence in general will take at least a week or so. It's not because the tests are long necessarily, it's cause everything's so backed up. That being said I'm only a graduate, I wouldn't quote me on 2 weeks exactly. I'm still looking for a job.
