The show is incredibly disingenuous/inaccurate about the origin of the safe rides fee. Additionally, the show’s timeline is really jumbled/inaccurate as well (as it relates to Travis’ personal life, Greyball and other tactics, along with a bunch of other details about the evolution of the company). As the writer of the book off of which the show is based, what’s your reaction to that deviation from the truth?

Thanks for the answer. I’m particularly dismayed about the safe rides fee - we both know that’s not how it actually went down, and the show just absolutely mangles the true reasoning behind that fee. Unfortunately it ends up making TK look really bad, when the truth was really different.

SRF was enacted to pay for increased insurance costs and went directly to pay for that, it did nothing to pad the bottom line.

And tell me, what do you actually know about what happened at Uber during that time?
