He got rejected 30 times with this book. I'm skeptical. Either 30 people in the industry didn't know what they are talking about or OP can't admit his own shortcomings. Which seems more likely?

We have no evidence, based on the info he gave us, that race played a factor. You can assume race played a factor all you want, but they are still only assumptions. Also there really is no need to mention it here.
