Have you ever heard of the book "Wildflowers in the median"? It's an incredible short book by Agnes Fury that is a compendium of the letters and poems sent back and forth between the woman and the murderer her daughter and grandchild. I've actually met her, and her story is extremely touching. She is an advocate for restorative justice rather than retribution. I think you and her might have some things in common.

Edit: Left out a couple of words. Opps.

You should. She has received some negativity as well because of her stance as I recall. A lot of people don't understand how you can learn to not forgive the actions of a person but still learn to see value and eventually learn to forgive that person. I'm glad you were able to take your journey of exploration into the lives of those on the other side of the trauma you and your family have experienced. It's a very rare ability and I commend you for it.

Edit: A word and some syntax.

I can only hope it would. As a highly empathic person studying social work who has worked with people in the correctional setting, I can honestly say the one thing most people in the judicial system need is understanding. I've known many criminals, both juvenile and adult, but I have yet to meet more than the occasional person that wasn't remorseful. People often feel trapped, desperate, and scared. When you have no resources to feed yourself or your family, who knows how far you would have to go out of the basic instinct of self preservation? Even when there is a seemingly senseless crime, there is often an underlying cause that is often over looked. The fact of the matter is we're all human and have nearly identical drives when it comes to survival. When religion becomes integral to that drive and someone feels than anyone with a different view is a threat, they might do regrettable things. I am deeply sorry for your experiences, but once again, I am glad that they have lead you to a new understanding of the human experience and what really makes us all human.

How many dolls are sold per year roughly? Are most of the purchases by different individuals or do you think that "repeat customers" make up the bulk of your business?

I'm working on my Master's of Social Work with a clinical focus. I once applied for the Peace Corps between undergrad and graduate school and got rejected. What can I do to make myself more likely to get accepted in the future? I would love to be able to travel the world, help educate, and help rebuild communities.

Any advice?
