But I wonder, have they considered boosting the birth rate using cloning?

lol nooo, Japan actually has backwards fertility laws where things like surrogate mothers and sperm banks are banned, for instance. Also the problem with birth rate is young couples not choosing to have children because of financial issues, or not becoming couples, so cloning won't help.

Until we see the bulk release of individual's emails or SMS messages, the average person isn't going to believe its real

THIS. The problem is that people 'know' about mass surveillance, but they don't really think about what it means. The crowd here or on tech sites is filled with people who see what mass surveillance means, but the masses of people think it's just "watching for bad guys" and "if you aren't doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about".

It will take a mass data dump of the data they gather on regular folk, with no criminal history, not immigrants, not Muslims, regular Church goer, regular job, to make people wake up out of the idea that they're only going after bad guys.

Hey, I loved the original, and 2!

Will there ever be ports of them to more modern platforms like 3ds, vita, smartphones? How about the various VR headsets?

In case anyone's curious, the eXile was a newspaper for western expats in Russia made by Taibbi and other expats and Russians in the '90s. It chronicles the wild, early days of Russia's opening up to capitalism and the sleazy westerners looking for a quick buck. It style was very much not 'respectable journalism', and it half reveled in, half mocked the sleazy greed of Moscow expats.

Imagine if SomethingAwful and 4chan made a print publication in Russia, and that's basically what it's like. One club reviewer (NOT Taibbi) made feminists upset with a club review that ended with him taking a drunk girl home and raping her.

I think Matt Taibbi is the closest thing to Hunter Thompson that exists today, and I am continually surprised to see he's still allowed to write.
