Thanks. I am familiar with the Utah material--wonderful color, but unfortunately it fades pretty quickly in sunlight (with the exception of rare Mn-induced pinks and recently-discovered pure yellows).

That's very intriguing! I have heard some about warm topaz from Texas but only seen a few photos of brown stones online--detailed information about Texas topaz is surprisingly scarce given its abundance and local popularity. Would you be willing to take a picture of it? I'm curious if it's a pure yellow or a brown-yellow/gold color.

On the off chance y'all are still up: I cut cabochons. Any of you faceters ever cross over to the world of domes from time to time? Any of you jewelers like to set them, and if so what types of cuts and materials do you prefer?

At hardness 7 it isn't exactly ideal for everyday ring wear. The same goes for those garnets unfortunately.

Have you ever cut or set a warm-colored topaz (yellow, brown, orange, etc; anything not blue) not from Brazil? If so, where was it from and did you test for stability of color in sunlight?
Also hi Arya.
