In a fight I never thought to myself, "whoa that hurt!" But after the fight you feel every punch and kick.
ScientologyMajor20 karma
you dont really feel the pain, just the blows. like your head gets pushed around but its not the same sort of pain as if you hit your head on a wall corner or something
Beakers_n_Burners24 karma
Does the pain come after the fight is over? When the adrenaline wears off?

Can you explain the state of mind during a match. Is it more like a bar-fight (all-out fight but with rules), or is it more like a cyclist (paying attention to technique, nothing personal)?
mark_munoz60 karma
I'm more like a cyclist to answer your question. I have my gameplan in mind and do all that I can to execute it.

How was it backstage after the Machida fight? and after that experience would you ever fight a friend/training parter again?
What's it like having your own gym with so many big names there?
You got any funny stories you can share from behind the scenes about any fighters?
Big fan, been there to watch both your fights in the UK and good luck against Mousasi.

How was it backstage after the Machida fight? and after that experience would you ever fight a friend/training partner again? - I would rather not but I know that it is something that we dont have control of so we are forced to do it. Backstage after the fight we spoke and decided to eat at a restaurant together with our camps. We resumed our friendship and everything is all good.

How do you feel about the stoppage in your loss to Weidman? It was terribly late to me, but I'd like to hear how you felt about it.
mark_munoz79 karma
I don't remember it very much. but I do have to say that when I did see it, it was very late.
mark_munoz45 karma
I don't pay it very much but when I do I like to play with my character for sure!

Hey Mark! Big fan!
I wanted to ask you, I am really wanting to get into shape, I know you get asked this all the time but for someone who doesn't know much about the gym or eating well have you got any resources or ideas for me to start?
I am 6'1 and 105kg and I want to build muscle!

What's the best way to wrap your hands?
Do you ever train jiu jitsu with the gi?
mark_munoz29 karma
What's the best way to wrap your hands? - with tape if you have someone that knows how to wrap hands.
Do you ever train jiu jitsu with the gi? - yes, but I dont like it. But it is good to roll in a gi so thats why I do it.

Hey Mark, huge fan, everyone knows MMA fighters ride an emotional roller coaster of highs and lows, I just wanted to ask what is one "high" of your career so far that sticks with you? P.S Mousasi is in for some Donkey Kong ground and pound.
mark_munoz48 karma
Yes highs and lows are prevalent in the UFC. One high that comes to mind is my fight with Tim Boestch. The reason it is a high for me is because I can back from fighting depression and had to overcome my weight gain and then I had one of the best performances of my career.

What other lines of work (besides anything to do with martial arts) have you considered?
mark_munoz53 karma
I actually was getting my prerequisites for my Physicians Assistants degree. I also was a coach and an instructor for University of California Davis. I own a gym called Reign Training Center and I have an anti-bullying campaign around Orange County California. I also like motivational speaking in front of students and businesses alike.

I love fighting in Europe. How often do you get to hop on a plane and travel to other parts of the world and do what you love? I'm blessed to be able to do what I do.
WarpedEcho15 karma
If you could pick anywhere in the world to fight next where would it be and why?
Good luck against mousasi!

"Let's go!!" Goes through my mind but there are certain times where I'm like why do I punch and kick people in the face for a living? But then when I step into the Octagon it all erases and it's time to go.
SixerTwo5 karma
Do you still get paid if you lose? (Not that you are going to, I'm just curious)
mark_munoz27 karma
Usually, per our contract, we have show purse and a win bonus. So when you don't win you get half of what you could've potentially made.
uninsane88 karma
In a real fight, does it fucking hurt to get punched or are you so focused on the task at hand (or full of adrenaline) that it doesn't?
