How do you feel about Jaycee Dugard using your name when she was in captivity?

Just a lowly non-philosopher redditor replying here, but from what I understand Singer would not agree with the assertion that humans are "more respectable" than other animals. This is called speciesism.

He's said before we should avoid inflicting pain on other creatures that have the capacity to feel it. (For example, oysters don't have the nervous system needed to feel pain, therefore they are OK to eat.) I can't imagine he'd agree with an act of beastiality that inflicts pain on an animal, solely for a human's gratification.

We all suffer, human and animal alike.
