What was the scoring based on? (were there scores given?)

I feel as though most people don't advocate that they are a First Nation student so that other students think that they had an unfair advantage for being there. I just recently experienced this a few weeks ago discussing with a classmate about job perspectives and how I had gotten one, to which they replied "But yeah... they wanted you because you're native". I honestly was caught so off guard I had no idea what to say.
