So a bit of a weird question. I work for a market research firm that specializes in video games. We are constantly having to recruit gamers who don't work in the industry but fit increasingly narrow bands of what developers feel are their core audience.

Do you have any thoughts/recommendations for me to try to connect to various gamers/gaming communities in a genuine way that doesn't come across as scammy/spammy?

Obviously the hook sounds super suspicious (come in, play games, get money, but don't lie to me about your gaming experience since I have to grill you for hours on what you think about games).

Right now I'm struggling most to connect with hardcore female gamers, people who spend a lot of money on mobile games, and people who actively use ancillary features on their consoles (e.g., share recordings thru the PS4 environment).
