I'll be in NYC from Thursday the 24th to Tuesday the 29th. How would you fill such a short span of time?

Any must see places (I know I want I spend time in Central Park, visit Brooklyn and Manhattan and maybe ride the ferry), must eat foods, any great local (maybe even cheap) bars?

Is there anything specific to avoid or watch out for?

How's the weather lately? I'm only bringing what I can fit in a backpack, I'm hoping to not have to lug a parka and goulashes around all weekend.

Can you think of any helpful apps that would help an urban backpacker navigate? What's the potty situation? I'm not above peeing in an alley in a pinch but I'd rather avoid a ticket.

I'm going all by myself, no hotel and no plans other than a broadway show Friday night, so nothing is really stopping my credit card, NYC and I from having a great time together.
